September 11, 2011 marked the 10 year anniversary of the attacks, but this post will not be about that. It will be about a more joyous and festive event that occurred for the first time in good ol Richmond, VA. RVA Music Fest made its first appearance with several local and regional acts throughout the day and some national talents. More after the jump.
Definitely did not realize it was 9 10 11 on Saturday haha. Any who, Saturday was the day before the outdoor portion of RVA Music Fest. All around town there were DJ’s and bands performing. I made it out to the Hat Factory where Ameera (Facebook) and HeavyGrinder were performing and to New York Deli where my good friend DJ Epoc (Facebook) was spinning. More after the jump.
Richmond Unite (website) had their #DSRPT11 Conference at the Greater Richmond Convention Center with guest speaker Sir Richard Branson as the, for a lack of better terms and my background in DJ events, the headliner. In case you don’t know who he is, he is the founder of Virgin Companies. So Virgin Mobile, Virgin Records, Virgin Air, Virgin Galactic are a few of the companies that he owns. More after the jump.
Thursday was a night at the Hat Factory. (Did you know that it is also called the Lady Hat Factory?) Kevin Harvick (NASCAR driver) and Lifehouse came to town and entertained the crowd. Not quite my scene, but it was a pretty fun night none the less. More after the jump.
At the Richmond Unite conferencethat is supposed to last til 4:30. David Karp is on stage right now. There is one photog here who has 3 or 4 cameras around him. The two others I know, on is somewhere, the other is blogging on tumblr as well lol.
I am going to be suuuper busy this weekend. I will try to blog between each event, but it will be tough to throw in editing and blogging. Tonight I was shooting at the Hat Factory for Life House and Kevin Harvick. In about 8 hours I will be shooting Richard Branson (Founder of Virgin and all companies Virgin) and David Karp (Founder of Tumblr). Later that night will be the red carpet event where Sir Branson will be. Saturday will be at Hat Factory for DJ HeavyGrinder and New York Deli for my buddy DJ Epoc for day 1 of RVA Music Fest. Sunday is the outdoor portion of RVA Music Fest. That is from 14:00 to 22:00.
Harvick photos have to be up sometime tomorrow/today, no idea when the convention photos are needed by, red carpet by Sunday at 12:00, HeavyGrinder and RVA Music Fest asap. Busy busy busy busy. I need an energy drink sponsorship. Meep.
Today was Labor Day and nearly everyone had the day off from work/school/are just free because they have no job (points at self). I again went with Dom (Facebook) to the Bottom of downtown Richmond. I don’t get why I run into the weirdest people on my photo walks. More after the jump.
Walking around the James River Pipeline area is very interesting. The people you run into and the things you see are just so random at times. I haven’t been to this place in more than a year. Maybe a year and a half. I was on a 9 hour photo walk with some buddies last time. More after the jump.
So I got a call at around 11 or so the night before, and it was boss asking me if I wanted to go sky diving. As much as I was hyped about it, I didn’t do it. I did get a chance to take pictures of people sky diving and pictures of Luke Aikins of the Red Bull Air Force sky diving team. More after the jump.
